I’ve been writing about music ever since contributing to the first issue of Jockey Slut in Manchester back in the mid ’90s. From there it was a short step to The Face in London and a move through magazines and newspapers including The Financial Times, Q, Mixmag, NME, The Guardian, TimeOut, Dazed & Confused, The Observer and The Independent. International work has included a stint as editor at large for US magazine Fader and ongoing work as a contributor to Groove Magazine in Germany.
I have been lucky enough to meet and interview some of the worlds finest musicians and creatives including Steve Reich, Charlotte Gainsbourg, M.I.A, Kelis, Daft Punk, Terry Callier, Roy Ayers, Damon Albarn, Pharell Williams and most of the major players in Detroit techno, Chicago and NY house, UK hardcore, jungle, UK garage, grime and dubstep. I’ve frequently written about artists at the start of their career, before they’ve gone on to mainstream success.
I am currently the Senior Editorial Mentor at Live Magazine. I work with a team of young journalists, photographers and graphic designers in South London who produce a website and a quarterly publication that is distributed throughout London.
I write regularly for a broad selection of publications, and am involved in research and other authorial commissions, and am always interested in a new challenge. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
